  • Calculations Sampler for Age 7-9

Calculations Sampler for Age 7-9 PACK +

This sample collection contains some of the games and tools from other 'calculations' packs across the site, serving as an introduction and as a one-stop location for some of our most popular activities. Most games contain a settings screen that allows differentiation for all pupils in this age group, covering revision of early skills through to advanced mental strategies. The Units of Work, Teaching Packs and Skill Builder areas that these activities are sampled from contain further printable and interactive resources. Every month we add further packs for Literacy and Numeracy to TES iboard+ so if you have something you'd like to see, please tweet @tesiboard or use the contact form on the home page.

  • Time to Run!

    Time to Run! PACK +

A super, sports-themed TES iboard+ collection. The main thrust of this pack is time durations - and therefore it practises subtraction skills, mostly of numbers up to 100 (e.g. time recorded in seconds or minutes; or durations within the hour). Pupils could be extended to tackle durations of longer than an hour. A simple stimulus, 'Hare Race', introduces the context, with random differences that pupils should calculate mentally. Some will be very easy, others more tricky, like difference between 48 and 62. Discuss counting-on strategies with pupils, using a number square or number line for reference. Further activities approach the problem in different ways: word problems, comparing clocks and a space-themed game which is there just for subtraction practice (borrowed from our Skill Builder pack).

  • Fractions of Eggs

    Fractions of Eggs PACK +

This Easter themed unit furthers pupils' understanding of numerator and denominator. It is a number based fractions pack, rather than fractions of shape. It covers a number of the objectives and learning ideas from the Unit Plans for year 3 and 4, including equivalence, simplest equivalent and fraction of a number. It would also make a good revision or catch up pack for older children. Supporting printables provide practice of the ideas covered in the interactives.
