  • Minibeast Hunt

    Minibeast Hunt PACK +

It's time for pond dipping, turning up stones and shaking branches. Minibeasts are a great way to learn about bio-diversity, habitats, adaptation and interdependence. The lead activity is a simple simulation of a minibeast hunt/survey. Use this (along with the Minibeasts Habitat Manager activity) to start pupils thinking about where in their local environment they might look for minibeasts. Writing templates are provided to organise the hunt and to show results. This pack then covers two bases: Firstly, it provides information books about different minibeasts. These are ideal for follow up after a minibeast hunt. Supplementing this are a set of cloze activities that can be used to check understanding. Secondly, it provides materials relating to sorting and labelling. Pupils can use observable features or information they have found out, such as diet or habitat, to sort creatures in a meaningful way.

These cards are ideal for quick revision on your Interactive Whiteboard or one-to-one with a specific child. Use the settings button to choose the set you require.

  • Early Money - Recognising and Totalling Coins

Early Money - Recognising and Totalling Coins PACK +

These early money activities will help pupils start recognising coins and move them towards totalling.  The lead resource is a simple matching activity. Further resources require totalling - either paying with coins to meet a total, or totalling the coins on the counter.  Finally Coin Comparisons and Piggy Bank are two teaching tools, useful for extending pupils with harder totalling activities. The price label sheets and record can be cut out to support coin and price matching activities.  For the next level of coin activities try our Getting Going with Coins Pack

  • Simple Graphers

    Simple Graphers PACK +

These useful 'graphers' allow you to switch between different representations - tally, number, block and spots. Although on the surface, these are for data handling objectives, they also provide a great opportunity for doing addition and subtraction in a real context.  The generic Interactive Grapher has space to type the title of each column. Additional, topic-specific, graphers have pictures as well, enabling a pictogram.

  • Addition and Subtraction Stories

Addition and Subtraction Stories PACK +

This collection of activities puts addition and subtraction in context, providing props for little maths stories. They are great for pupil participation, either through a child telling the story, or acting as props themselves, in an active learning situation.  The first activity, Counting Fish, provides a very flexible tool for estimating, counting and comparing, as well as storytelling. The shark performs "take away"! Subsequent tools, from the smaller thumbnails, provide either different props or a more structured animated story.
