Phonics Flash Cards Set 1 (Phase 2 and 3)
A handy, configurable set of word cards that will read the word on the card phonetically as well as the whole word.
Use these flash cards in three modes - 1) simply flick them to provide blending practice 2) show in automatic mode, watching your class to see who is reading well 3) a fun/wake up mode, where pupils have to read the words as quickly as possible.
Set 1 uses words from satpin, through single letter graphemes, to double letter ends (ll,ss,ff,zz) and words starting qu.

Configurable flash cards that will read the word on the card phonetically, as well as the whole word. The main activity is the 1st set of words, which takes you from satpin words, through all the common 3 letter CVC combinations, finishing with a small set of 4 letter CVC words ending with ck, ss, ll, ff. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th sets can be launched from the smaller thumbnails and provide words compatible with most phonic schemes. A handy cross reference table is available on the document, Phonics Progressions and Sets Overview. The further pdf documents are supporting "printables" - sheets of word cards for all of the words in the activities.
This pack collects some of our favourite teaching tools and practice activities, following the order of Phase 2 and the first part of Phase 3, Letters and Sounds. This includes short phonetically decodable words, using most common single letter graphemes as well as two-letter alternatives like ss, ll, zz. All words are CVC in form. For the latter part of phase 3 (2 letter graphemes like ch, sh) and all of phase 4 (non-CVC words), click here
