A tool for making and comparing fractions.

The Fraction Machine Tool is a great activity for exploring equivalence.

Use the up and down arrows (on either the pink or yellow sides of the machine) to set the numerator and denominator of each fraction lasers, or use the random button to quick start. Challenge pupils initially to make an equivalent fraction to one you have set. You could extend this to create greater than/less than questions, e.g. can you make a fraction bigger than three-quarters?

Use the compare button to check the comparison and then press edit to set a different set of fractions.

For consolidation, pupils could play Fraction Machine Denominator or Fraction Machine Numerator.
