Spider Web
Guide the spider to each fly using angles and distance.
An activity to introduce turn and movement. Angles practised are 45, 90, 135 and 180. The language of turn used in this activity is left turn and right turn; to tie in with the use of the LOGO langauge used in many IT schemes of work at this age. Work out how far to turn to point the spider at a fly, using left turn or right turn and then setting the angle. Then enter a distance to move across the web. Two helpful overlays will guide pupils towards estimating these angles and distances and lay foundations for protractor work. This activity sits in the middle of a sequence of difficulty: Chameleon, Spider Web then Mole Maze.
